Little Mix star Perrie Edwards speaks to Confetti
Little Mix fans love the racy lyrics from their new album Confetti, released last Friday and littered with cheeky sexual innuendos.
Crazy songs like Rendezvous and Nothing But My Feelings leaves little to the imagination and has been praised for taking on a more grown-up tone.
Talk to Metro.co.uk Before Little Mix presents the MTV EMAs tonight, singer Perrie Edwards opened up about how the band compromises between singing about sex and being attentive to their young fans.
I think there is a way to do it, they are really cheeky and a little mean but not quite saying it, she said.
It’s just getting smarter with the lyrics and I think we’ve done that a lot in the past because we know we have a young fanbase, but we were women.
She added that Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson are both 29 years old and are getting closer to the big 3-0 so naturally want to embrace being a woman and everything that comes with owning their sexuality.
So two of us being 30 in the group, Perrie said as Leigh-Anne pretended to reveal the horror at her age, saying in false shock: Thanks for telling everyone.
Perrie, 27, continued: We were mature women, we want to talk about naughty things but we also like to respect our fans.
Rendezvous features the Little Mix ladies telling a lover (or rather, a booty call) that they’re in the mood.
They sing: Time for two? I’m not trying to fall in love with you, I’m just trying to make a date. And you already know the time and place, come and see me face to face.
On Nothing But My Feelings, the girls explicitly spell out the terms of a one-night stand, singing: I know we’ll never work, but if you’re looking for a workout, you should come.
The singers are all currently in love with and in love with Leigh-Anne engaged to footballer Andre Gray, Perrie in a three-year relationship with Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jesy dating Our Girl actor Sean Sagar and Jade Thirwall romancing Rizzle Kicks star Jordan Stephens.
Little Mix is scheduled to host the MTV Europe Music Awards tonight at 8 p.m. ET. They will also perform their new single Sweet Melody.
It had previously been confirmed that Jesy had withdrawn from the show due to illness.
