There is a Hollywood Mystery series from the 1920s in development called TINSELTOWN – GeekTyrant

There is an interesting new mystery series in development in the 1920s called Hollywood Tinseltown. The show will be based on William J Mann2014 book Tinseltown: Murder, morphine and madness at the dawn of Hollywood.

Tinseltown takes place in the glamorous and delicate context of the era of silent cinema. It explores the lives of four pioneer filmmakers whose lives and livelihoods have been threatened by an outrageous murder and the brutal patriarchy of the emerging Hollywood studio system. The story also takes place immediately after the Spanish flu pandemic.

The project is produced by Spectrum Originals and Paramount Television Studios, and it is developed by Mann and The son executive producer, Kevin Murphy. Mann and Murphy will write the series, and Murphy had this to say in a statement:

The show focuses on four accomplished filmmakers who are drawn into the grotesque media circus surrounding a murder. Their careers are turned upside down and they find themselves pushed out of the booming Hollywood studio system, a founder of Paramount, Adolph Zukor, a system built by independent producers and powerful arms exhibitors ravaged by the closure of the Spanish flu. .

Mann added:

I believe this is a story about women in Hollywood and the resilience of women in Hollywood. We wonder how we got to where we are today, well, that’s the story behind so many things.
