Delayed Opening for Worlds of Fun Has Some Season Ticket Holders Seeking Refund | FOX 4 WDAF-TV in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Coronavirus has been holding the opening day of Worlds of Fun, scheduled for Friday.

Season pass holders are also asked to request a refund.

“Will I ever get my money back?” Emily Thomas asked.

Thomas is on a monthly payment plan for a $ 400 family ticket. So far, she has set aside $ 240 for a pass she no longer wants.

“It’s stupid when our money goes somewhere that doesn’t really exist and is unknown,” said the mother of two.

Thomas was one of several season pass holders who contacted FOX4 Troubleshooting. Everyone was upset with the park’s reaction when they asked for a refund.

“He told me I wasn’t getting a refund,” Thomas said. “No one receives a refund.”

Worlds of Fun is owned by the Cedar Fair Corporation, which operates amusement parks nationwide. No one returned FOX4 phone calls.

But the Worlds of Fun website states that it hopes to open by mid-May and is “working with day-ticket holders” – though it does not explain how. The website states that season pass holders will get extra days after the park opens, as well as other perks.

But it is Thomas’s little consolation.

As much as she and her family have loved Worlds of Fun in the past, it is not good for her to attend crowd-grabbing events in the near future.

“Think of me and my husband that it’s not safe,” Thomas said. “I don’t take my kids there. I don’t take anyone there.”

The good news is that after FOX 4 began working on this story, Thomas received an email from Worlds of Fun announcing that he was suspending the monthly payment for all season pass holders until further notice.

But there is no mention of a refund for money already paid.

A Worlds of Fun spokesman told FOX4 that the company is continually evaluating its policies in light of the ongoing evolving situation. Season pass holders can contact the company through its website.
