Why do little kids and adults love superheroes so much? Easy: they are cool. They are powerful. They are unstoppable. They wear funny costumes. Most importantly, they do amazing things. They are optimistic about improving change and they take responsibility for making those changes a reality and making the world a better place. You can be like a superhero, act selflessly, inspire others, make a difference. You do this by being not only a leader, but a transformational leader.

What is a transformational leader? Much like a superhero, a transformational leader accomplishes remarkable things. They find significant success in their life and work. They are driving fundamental change that transforms their organization for the better.

They are bold, creative and powerful.

Now is the time for you to step up and become the transformational leader you have the potential to be and make transformational change in your organization and in the world. Here’s how.

Develop your potential and become a master

The idea of ​​transformation is meaningful to me, which is why I named my company Transformation Systems, Inc. and in my work I help clients become transformational leaders who enhance exceptional change.

To do this, my team and I help our clients master the four areas that make up LEAP. LEAP stands for Leadership Effectiveness and Potential and is the system I created to help unlock potential and develop impactful leaders. The four domains are, in order, personal mastery, interpersonal mastery, organizational mastery, and motivation mastery. Transformational leaders achieve all four mastery levels.

Do things differently

Transformational leaders do things differently from other leaders, and that’s why they get different results. I call it Superhero Essentials.

Imagine, create and innovate. These three concepts are all about doing something new or doing something old in a new way. Transformative leaders let their imaginations run wild, unleash their creativity, and revel in the process of innovation to produce something original and valuable that the world has never seen before.

Manage your stress and your time intelligently. I am too busy. I am so stressed. These phrases are ubiquitous these days, often said with a bit of pride as if the more stressed and busy you are, the more important you are. But not being able to manage your time or your stress level shouldn’t be a sign of honor! If you want to give the best of yourself to others and to your organization, you need to actively manage stress and become more efficient with your time. This is what transformational leaders do.

Encourage, inspire and mentor others. You have incredible power to influence the people around you for the better. Model exceptional behaviors (see below) and remember that a little recognition goes a long way, so take a moment to recognize the accomplishments of those around you.

Contagious Behavior Patterns: Be Bold, Be Creative, Be Powerful

Whether you realize it or not, your behaviors and attitudes are contagious. As a leader, you know that people look to you for how things should be done, what is valued and what is ignored, and what is acceptable and not acceptable.

This is why it is so important to model the behaviors you want to see in others. They will follow! Transformational leaders consistently engage in contagious, bold, creative, and powerful behaviors, such as:

• Seize opportunities as they arise
• Set an example for continuous self-improvement
• To ask questions
• Research and provide feedback
• Take risks
• Manage physical and mental health
• Provide direction
• Recognize the hard work of others

Think about other behaviors you would like to add to this list that you would like to see in others. Then start doing them.
