Luke Combs discusses battles with anxiety, a purely obsessive OCD
Scorching Country Music Star Luke combs opens to Dan instead about her struggles with anxiety in a newscast.

Combs, 30, says he first experienced anxiety in college. Rather, he says he has a form of obsessive-compulsive order known as Purely obsessive OCD, where people repeat mental rituals to cope with stress.
“I know when you see people who have obsessive-compulsive disorder, you think they like to play with the blinds or straighten the rug,” Combs said. “Basically my version of fixing the blinds or straightening the rug is a kind of thought that I play over and over in my head.
“For example … it will be something about my health. Like I’m worried that I’m about to have a heart attack or stroke and that it becomes this very obsessive thing that you you can never get an answer. kind of a horrible part of it. You have to teach yourself to be comfortable with the fact that you will never get an answer. “

Combs says he’s learned more about anxiety and while he still has “my moments here and there,” he feels “long freed from these things now.”
The past few years have been a mad rush for Combs, who released their debut album, “This One’s For You”, in 2017. The bonus track “Beautiful Crazy” won Song of the Year at Country Music Association Award 2019, one of the many awards Combs has won. In 2019, he was invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry, one of the top honors in country music.
A second album, “What You See Is What You Get” followed in 2019, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It won the Best Album category at CMA 2020, where Combs was also named Male Vocalist of the Year.
Combs married longtimefiance Nicole Hocking in August. “Yesterday was the best day of my life”, Combs posted on Instagram after the ceremony. “I have to marry my best friend. I love you @ nicohocking, that’s it forever.”
Although Combs has been a singer his entire life, he said he didn’t pick up the guitar until college. He’s always been in country music, growing up listening Brooks and Dunn, Clint Black, Vince gill and Garth Brooks.
By assisting Appalachian State University in North Carolina, Combs worked at a bar as a bouncer. It wasn’t long before he was on stage in this same bar. After earning $ 200 on his first concert tickets, $ 1 each, Combs says he was hooked. He dropped out of school to pursue music and became a regular at college bars.
“I felt like it was the right thing to do,” he says. “I was not the best student. I did not apply myself like Ishould.”
Along with friends, she recorded a handful of songs before the money ran out. They only had enough money to send one of them to remaster it and they chose “Hurricane,” which became their first hit.
A recording deal followed and it went from college bars to arenas and stadiums.
“I’d like to think I’m an ordinary guy,” he says. “There’s not that big gap between me and the guy in the front row. It’s been pretty crazy. I never imagined something like this would happen to me. I was lucky, I guess. In the right place at the right time.”
Nine years later, Combs says he continues to evolve as an artist, improving his guitar skills and creating stronger songs.
“As I get older, the songs I write change,” he says. “I’m not 21 anymore. If you listen to a song that I wrote when I was 21 and a song that I wrote, you know a week or two ago, those would be songs drastically. one may be younger and the other may be where I am now. “
