Wonderful news: Girl From the North Country, Conor McPhersons, a self-directed musical jukebox based on Bob Dylan songs, reached Broadway after very successful tours in London and the New Yorks Public Theater, slightly modified but essentially identical to the series I revised in 2018, calling it a musical that fully does justice to the artistic talent of the great American songwriter whose genius inspired him.

Girl From the North Country is a group portrait similar to our town of tenants of the Depression era boarding house in Duluth, Minnesota, birthplace of Mr. Dylans (although No other obvious reference is made to the life of the songwriters). Mr. Dylans' songs are used by Mr. McPherson to enhance the atmosphere of the shows and shed light on the inner states of the different characters, but never transparently. The score, if that's the word for the 20 songs used in the show, works rather on the non-literal level of metaphor and mystery.
What Mr. McPherson does with Mr. Dylans' songs is unerringly true.
