‘In the Heights’ Lands New release date in June 2021
The film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Broadway musical was taken from this year’s summer calendar due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Warner Bros. ‘ musical on the big screen In the heights landed a new release date on June 18, 2021, the studio announced on Tuesday.
The film was originally scheduled to hit theaters on June 26, but was removed from this year’s summer calendar last month due to the continuing impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians) directs the film adaptation of the popular Broadway musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda in 2008.
In the heights, located in the Washington Heights district of New York, follows a charismatic bodega owner (Anthony Ramos) who finally decides to fulfill his dream of returning to his parents’ country of origin, the Dominican Republic. His decision forever changes his own neighborhood.
Corey Hawkins, Melissa Barrera, Leslie Grace, Jimmy Smits, Olga Merediz, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Stephanie Beatriz and Dascha Polanco complete the cast. Quiara Alegria Hudes wrote the screenplay.
The new release date was revealed on Tuesday, a day after Warners announced a host of changes to its 2020 and 2021 calendars, including the postponement of Matt Reeves. Batman restart from June 25, 2021 to October 1, 2021.
