NRI Files Fraud Complaint Against Shilpa Shetty, Her Husband Raj Kundra

Mumbai: A complaint of cheating has been filed against Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra, her husband Raj Kundra and others for defrauding an investor in a gold project, police said on Thursday.

Sachin Joshi, a non-resident Indian (NRI), approached the Khar Police recently said he was cheated by Satyug Gold Pvt Ltd, a gold trading company previously run by Shetty and Kundra, said an official.

According to the complainant, he had bought nearly one kilo of gold for 18.58 lakh rupees from the company as part of a gold program in March 2014, he said.

As part of the five-year plan, the buyer was offered a gold card at a reduced rate and promised a certain fixed amount of gold repayable at the end of the term, did he declares.

Joshi's term plan ended on March 25, 2019 and when he attempted to redeem the gold card, he found that the company's office at the Bandra Kurla complex had closed, said the responsible.

Upon probing a little, the complainant found that Shetty and Kundra, who were the directors of the company, had resigned from their positions in May 2016 and November 2017 respectively, he said.

Feeling deceived, Joshi filed a complaint, said the official, adding that for the moment, no FIR has been filed and that investigations are under way.

Despite the attempts, the actor could not be reached for comment.
