Saint Léon celebrates the annual lighting of the Christmas tree and the blessing of the nativity scene – Community

The campus community of Saint Leo’s University gathered on Thursday evening, December 1, for the annual lighting of the Christmas tree and blessing of the nativity scene. The evening featured a new Christmas Village, sponsored by the Town of St. Leo, and included holiday craft activities, games, dining options and more for attendees to enjoy.
Saint Leo University President Edward Dadez delivered the official proclamation Let there be light in front of the Christmas tree, nativity scene and surrounding palm trees, all lit up in spectacular fashion for those in attendance.
Mike D’Ambrosio, Chief of Safety and Emergency Management and Mayor of the City of St. Leo, blessed the Christmas tree and nativity scene while Daniel Konesky, student union president, read the Gospel of Luke. Acting Director of University Ministry Lucas Nocera closed the event by leading the Saint Leo community in Christmas carols.
Santa Claus and Mrs. Clause also made a welcoming appearance and posed for photos with students and guests after the lighting.
