Jimmies men’s volleyball sweeps Central Christian in morning game – Jamestown Sun

JAMESTOWN Jamestown University held Central Christian College (KS.) to -2.1 save percentage in a sweep (25-14, 25-10, 25-18) on Saturday, Jan. 28 at Harold Newman Arena .

The Jimmies (2-0, 2-0) opened the first set in a battle against themselves as they were tied with the Tigers (0-2, 0-2) 6-6, five of those points of the Tigers being mistakes by Jimmies. . This trend would continue for the remainder of the first set as the Jimmies won the set 25-14, while only giving up one kill and one ace.

The second set began similarly with the Jimmies having a 5-3 lead and the Tigers’ three points being errors by Jimmies. But the Jimmies Jaden Gaalema earned a kill to push his teams ahead 6-3, starting a 4-2 run to push the Jimmies ahead 10-5. The Jimmies followed that up with a 6-0 run to take a 16-5 lead. The Jimmies finished the second set on a 3-0 run as they put the set aside on an ace from Christopher Ross to make it 25-10.

Early in the third set, the Tigers took their first lead of the game at 2-1, but the Jimmies quickly responded with a 9-4 run to take a 10-6 lead. Later in the set, Tigers Elijah Kephart scored a kill to reduce his team’s deficit to 11-9, the Jimmies responded with a 9-0 run to put the game at 20-9.

The Jimmies are back in action at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, when they host Dordt University.
