Fashion Designers Wanted for Dress for Success Renos Inaugural Fashion Show Recycle the Runway

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Dress for Success Reno is the Northern Nevada affiliate for Dress for Success Worldwide, a global nonprofit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a support network, professional attire and development tools to help women to thrive at work and in life.

Friday, September 29, Dress for Success Reno is hosting its very first Recycle the tracka one-of-a-kind dinner and fashion experience where a selection of local designers compete for cash prizes in front of a panel of celebrity judges.

Dress for Success Reno founder Patti Weiske stopped by Morning Break to explain the application process and how designers can submit their work for a chance to compete.

Designers will be selected to showcase runway-ready ensembles made from bags of upcycled clothing and accessories generously donated to Dress for Success Reno Northern Nevada but deemed not quite appropriate for the workplace.

For this year’s inaugural competition, entrants will design a female ensemble that reflects the theme recover a goal in a disposable world of a random bag of clothes and accessories.

Admission is open to anyone in the Northern Nevada area ages 16 and older. Designers can compete individually or in teams of two and will showcase their designs live on the runway in front of a panel of judges on Friday, September 29 to the generator at Sparks.

The top three designers will win cash prizes and have their outfits auctioned off as part of the show. 100% of proceeds will go to local women working for economic independence at Dress for Success Reno.
