RAMFAM Rack helps local high school students dress for success

SALISBURY, Md. — Dressing your best can help impress. Parkside High School students are getting a helping hand as the school’s RAMFAM Rack is now open.

We were told that the school is looking for ways to help students prepare for life after high school.

Grants from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore contribute to this mission. Students can now get dress shirts, ties, belts, scrubs, and even shoes for free. To access the Careers Closet, students scan a QR code to complete a recommendation form.

Students also get more than just clothes, as staff say they also break down barriers. “Knowing that you come prepared for an interview or for a job, it will just give you more confidence. LAW? Then it’s one less thing you have to worry about,” said Tara Kearns, social worker at Parkside High School.

“Getting driven to a store to find new clothes or a uniform, now they don’t have to pay for those things and it’s confidential,” said Valerie Hughes, CTE school counselor at Parkside High School.

Some students in the class of 2023 received items from the career closet for Parkside High School’s recent graduation ceremony.

Local businesses like Vernon Powell Shoes and Uniforms Unlimited also offer clothing and other supplies. We are told that community donations are also accepted.
