An exclusive look at the Harry Styles Pleasing brand's first collection
From Harry Styles riding a Harley Davidson on the cover of Dazed to launch its Pleasing brand, there has been a resurgence of interest in the brand. And now, the young company which mainly marketed beauty products such as perfumes and nail polishes is now launching into ready-to-wear with the launch of its summer collection at Selfridges. To celebrate the release, longtime Styles stylist and Pleasing creator Harry Lambert shared some exclusive behind-the-scenes Polaroids from the collection's campaign with Dazed Fashion.
In the images, models lounge around in retro-inspired trucker caps and '70s-influenced tracksuits, while bright, sunny patterns are repeated throughout. Launching this type of collection in summer seemed more natural, because it's the season where you can play a lot more creatively with color and joy, Lambert told us about cheerful clothes. It's a fun fashion time where people are feeling more adventurous.
As well as being linked to warmer weather, the continuous rainbow pattern is a well-known symbol of queerness, and it's no coincidence that the collection launched on the eve of Pride Month. Color, joy, openness and warmth are part of our DNA and our considerations when designing, says Lambert, and for me, queerness and joy go hand in hand, which is why these Colorful pride-influenced references can be seen on play here.
