Breitling has announced new additions to its Superocean collection, the line aimed at an outdoor and beach-loving audience, the ultimate sea watch.
Releases follow the months of April The Breitling Book of Surfingwhich tells the stories of professional and freestyle surfers from around the world.
The new watches are rainbow dial editions of the 42mm Superocean Automatic 42 and the 36mm Superocean Automatic 36.
They feature Super-LumiNova coated indexes and hands in poppy yellow, green, blue, indigo, purple, red and orange.
Superocean Automatic 42
The 42mm steel version comes with turquoise, aquamarine, orange and yellow rubber straps.
The 36mm version with its 18k red gold and steel case, which until recently was probably referred to as a women's watch, comes on a white rubber strap.
The SuperOcean line received a design overhaul in summer 2022, with the brand going back to its 1960s SuperOcean Slow Motion model, a simplified dive watch featuring a high-contrast minute scale on the the dial ring, large luminescent stick indexes and paddle hands. , making it easier to read beneath the surface.
Superocean Automatic 36
The name Slow Motion comes from the fact that the 1960s chronograph edition used a chrono hand that made one revolution per hour, instead of the usual one revolution per minute. The wearer could thus directly read his diving duration using the chronograph hand and the timer on the dial.
The releases are reminiscent of a similar watch that Breitling launched to support the NHS during Covid in 2020.
