DiCarlo and Shaw win men's and senior men's match championships
The 2024 Ontario Men's and Senior Men's Match Championship saw two winners deliver excellent performances of Tarandowah Golf Club.
Josh DiCarlo (Pointe Ouest Golf Club) won the Ontario Men's Match Championship in convincing fashion, beating Zach Smith (Brampton Golf Club) 4&3.
This was DiCarlos' fifth time competing in the Ontario Men's Match Play Championship and his first appearance in the championship final. He had not progressed past the quarter-finals in his first four appearances.
In his first experience in the final of this championship, he got the job done and can now call himself the winner of the Ontario Men's Match Play Championship.
As for Smith, he failed in the final of the Ontario men's match play for a second consecutive year.
On the Senior Men side, Darren Shaw (Kings Forest Golf Club) bordered Matt Sauter (Rocky Crest Golf Club) 2&1 to win the Ontario Senior Men's Match Championship.
Shaw placed 32nd and participated in the championship as an alternate. He has faced some of the toughest names in the field like the reigning champion Steve Fredericks,with tough competitors Doug Brophy And Rob Cowan.
He even lost five strokes in the first six holes of his quarter-final match against Brophy.
However, he still managed to come out on top and become Ontario Senior Men's Match Play Champion and cap off an incredible story.
