Princess Kate's Trooping the Color Fashion Highlights

Since her marriage to Prince William in 2011, Princess Kate has become one of the royal family's most influential stylists. She has inspired trends estimated to be worth over $1 billion to the British fashion economy.

In the Royal Diary, there are several ceremonies scheduled throughout the year that give fans a glimpse of the monarchy at its ceremonial best. Perhaps the centerpiece of these events is the annual Trooping the Color celebrations.

This military parade and appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace is attended by senior members of the royal family for the event which celebrates the monarch's official birthday each June.

This year, Kate retreated from the public eye to recover from abdominal surgery and undergo preventative chemotherapy following a cancer diagnosis.

Here, News week takes a look at a collection of Princess Kate's Trooping the Color fashion highlights.

2011: first troop

For her first appearance on Trooping the Color as a royal two months after her wedding, Kate wore a stunning black and white outfit centered around a military-inspired Alexander McQueen coat dress with a paneled skirt.

2023: Green tribute

2023 was a pivotal year for Kate. As well as being the first in the reign of King Charles III, it was also Kate's first since she was appointed Colonel of the Irish Guards Regiment in the Household Division of the British Army.

As a colonel, Kate took part in the military aspect of the day, watching the troops parade from a special seat on the royal dais.

Paying homage to the Irish Guards, Kate wore a stylish all-green '90s-inspired coat dress with statement buttons by Singaporean designer Andrew Gn.

The princess paired the dress with an oversized hat in a matching shade of green designed by Philip Treacy.
