Bangor's Red Rabbit Bazaar hosts Pride fashion show
Bangor Pride and Red Rabbit Bazaar hosted a fashion show on Sunday to celebrate style, diversity and pride.
BANGOR, Maine People gathered in Bangor on Sunday to celebrate Pride in style at Red Rabbit Bazaar.
The clothing store and Pride of Bangor organized a fashion show.
Everyone is welcome to this party, everyone is welcome to this party, said Cara Oleksyk, owner of Red Rabbit Bazaar.
Oleksyk brought the event to life at his reclaimed fashion store, which opened in March. She said hosting a fashion show has been on their radar for some time.

The goal was to bring the community together to celebrate pride and self-expression through fashion.

Eight different models walked the runway, each sporting three unique looks.
Arthurs, whose stage name is Babirusa, is non-binary and enjoys expressing her gender identity through fashion.
I like mixing masculine and feminine, they said. It defines my identity.
For some, like Deveau, having a safe space for this expression is essential.
I come from an intolerant family, I was expelled shortly before I turned 18, he said.
Deveau is a trans man who likes to dress in a mix of feminine and masculine styles. He believes that everyone should be able to dress however they want, regardless of gender.
It’s really meaningful to be able to celebrate with people who accept me. I really enjoy the experience of being able to be who I am and having a supportive community,” Deveau said.
The next Bangor Pride event is Bangor Pride Parade Saturday from 11 a.m. The parade will travel down Maine Street and end with a festival at West Market Square.
