Christopher Fenimore on men's fashion, trends, style and more

You can usually find Christopher Fenimore on the other side of the Esquire camera lens. Turns out, photographing and interviewing dozens of the industry's most influential people makes you pretty damn influential yourself. For Five Fits With, her weekly style column on Esquire.com, Fenimore photographed and interviewed Apple Music's Sir Paul Smith, Wyclef Jean, and Zane Lowe, to name a few. He also selects lesser-known menswear enthusiasts for his column: stylists, vintage experts and small boutique owners from around the country who can really drill down on the details with him. No matter who he photographs, Brooklyn-born Fenimore, who now resides on Long Island, shows up to each photo shoot as if he could be the subject of his own column. So we decided to ask him for his own take on style, trends, and whether boat shoes are actually making a comeback.

Esquire: What has been your aha moment regarding your personal style or approach to clothing?

Christophe Fenimore: When I was younger, I watched all the fashion shows. When I stopped caring so much about what people told me and instead focused on what felt right, it was eye-opening. I think it's about paying attention to the people around us every day.

What is the difference between style and fashion?

Fashion is an industry. Fashion is very current. Style is something innate; that’s how we translate fashion.

Denim jacket by Umit Benan. Shirt by Visvim. Tank top by Comme des Garons. Uniqlo x JW Anderson pants. Sunglasses by Oliver Peoples. Omega watch. Necklaces from Beacon Design.

A designer you love at the moment?

I'm currently wearing a few pieces from Visvim. They've been doing the same thing for a long time and I really like it.

Who is your style icon?

Yasuto Kamoshita, who is a Japanese designer. He does sewing but also incredible sportswear. He is personally well dressed and his brand, Camoshita, is awesome. Japan, in general, also has a considerable influence, just on Japanese style.

Is there a correct length for shorts, and if so, what length?

There is definitely an incorrect length for shorts. They shouldn't be too long. Once they encroach on the knee or further, yes, it's no for me.

Are trends important to you personally and to the world at large?

Trends can be important because they create ripples and help inform what people do and how they dress. But for me, they don't really matter anymore. I try to stick to things I've worn for a long time. If I buy something new, I try to make sure it's timeless and I won't regret it in five years.

Who is your favorite social media following in menswear?

The label, a French magazine that does really great things. Their fashion director, Gauthier Borsarello, also has an incredible Instagram. This is probably my favorite follow as a person.

What’s the one thing you never wear but absolutely refuse to get rid of?

I have this Prada shirt from the collaboration they did with Christophe Chemin. He's an artist, and it's this crazy dress shirt with these big panels with dinosaurs and all this crazy stuff on them. It's super rare. It's worth a lot of money, but even though I don't wear it very often, I'll never get rid of it.

How much is a pair of socks too expensive?

I started wearing Pantherella, which are moderately expensive. More than 40 or 50 dollars is a little crazy.

A trend you swore you'd never adopt, but now you have?

I don't necessarily have baggy pants, but I have gotten a little looser.

What’s an underrated brand you’re loving right now?

Massimo Alba outside Italy. He makes incredible knits. Some of my favorite things I have in my closet come from him. And Stffa here in New York. It's expensive, but given what it is, I think they're undercharging. You get an incredible product.

What is the one thing you buy again and again?

Uniqlo underwear and James Perse t-shirts.

What is your favorite cologne?

A bunch of different ones from the Lab. This is going to sound terrible, but I wore it before many of you. I really was. I'm wearing Tonka, Berry and Matcha at the moment.

Your ultimate watch?

I think I've had it before: an Omega Seamaster De Ville from the 60s. When I had my first good year of self-employment, I bought it for myself as a Christmas bonus.

Are boat shoes really back?

They're everywhere right now. Not for me, but they are.

A must-have summer shoe?

Feit slip-on loafers. It's so comfortable. I wear them to the beach all the time.

What Are The Main Benefits Of Comparing Car Insurance Quotes Online

LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / June 24, 2020, / Compare-autoinsurance.Org has launched a new blog post that presents the main benefits of comparing multiple car insurance quotes. For more info and free online quotes, please visit https://compare-autoinsurance.Org/the-advantages-of-comparing-prices-with-car-insurance-quotes-online/ The modern society has numerous technological advantages. One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
