A huge sinkhole has opened up on a football field at Gordon Moore Park in Alton, southern Illinois, USA, swallowing a lamppost, benches and artificial turf. The hole was caused by subsidence from nearby underground limestone mining and is at least 100 feet (30.5 m) wide and up to 50 feet (15 m) deep.
