Louis Vuitton designs Olympic and Paralympic medal and torch trunks to house the Paris 2024 medals and torches.

Committed to its patronage of sporting excellence, Louis Vuitton has designed the Medal Trunks and Torch Trunks that will be used for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. As part of the house's mission for this year's Olympic Games, these trunks are a testament to its heritage in craftsmanship and trunkmaking.

Drawing on Monsieur Louis Vuitton’s design philosophy, designing a trunk begins with understanding the objects it is designed to protect and display. The Medal Trunks, covered in the house’s signature Monogram canvas and featuring brass corners and closures like all Louis Vuitton trunks since the 1850s, hold the medals that symbolize the trials and triumphs of competing Olympic and Paralympic athletes. French doors reminiscent of the Coiffeuse Trunk open to reveal a central section and two hinged sections, revealing specially designed drawers and a matte black leather interior that houses the 468 medals.

Similarly, the Torches Trunks, designed to house the Olympic and Paralympic torches by French designer Mathieu Lehanneur, are functional and elegant pieces that represent the house’s roots in the art and innovation of travel. As the Olympic torch passes through Olympia on its way to Marseille and then Paris, and the Paralympic torch arrives from Stoke Mandeville in August, the Torches Trunks are tasked with protecting them before and after their journey. Louis Vuitton’s iconic Damier canvas covers the exterior, with traditional brass corners and protective closures, while circular sockets at the base of the trunk and supple matte black leather ensure the torches are held securely and comfortably during transit.

Demonstrating the House's pride and commitment to the spirit of sport, more than 30 Louis Vuitton employees will also participate in the Olympic torch relay, which will pass through the hands of more than 11,000 torchbearers on its way to Paris.
