Google Engineer Goes Viral By Creating World's First Dress With Robotic Snakes

Google software engineer Christina Ernst has sparked controversy on social media after creating the “world’s first robotic dress.” On Instagram, Christina, who is also the founder of a website called shebuildsrobots.org, shared a short video of her “Medusa robotic dress” that has gone viral with over 3 million views to date.

“I designed this robot snake dress and it’s finally finished,” Christina said in her video description, adding, “I coded an optimal mode that uses AI to detect faces and move the snake’s head towards the person looking at you. So this might be the world’s first AI dress. A surveillance state, but one that makes it fashion.”

The black dress features several robotic snakes, including one around her neck in particular.

Opinions were mixed in the comments section, with some users also criticizing Christina for her creation. Most viewers, however, appreciated the Medusa dress and applauded Christina for creating something so extraordinary.

“Watch a designer try to steal this and have it at the next Met Gala,” one user said. Another comment read, “Ok, this is INCREDIBLY AWESOME. All comments should be geeks. You are incredibly talented. This is the coolest right brain/left brain crossover ever.”

Some viewers were rather rude and called his creation “boring” while one person went so far as to say: “Bad result.”

Christina Ernst, who has around 2 lakh followers on Instagram, has been working on the Medusa dress for weeks as she has been documenting the process through several videos posted on her account.
