Christian McCaffrey Responds to Influencer Over Olivia Culpo Criticism
Christian McCaffrey defended his wife Olivia Culpo on Tuesday after a fashion influencer posted a lengthy critique of the newlyweds' Dolce & Gabbana wedding dress on social media.
On Monday, stylist Kennedy Bingham spoke out about the long-sleeved ball gown Culpo, 32, wore for her June 29 nuptials to the Rhode Island 49ers running back, saying, “There's no personality in that dress.”
“Usually wedding dresses have something of the bride in them, whether it’s a little bit of beading, jewels, details, something, it’s just nothing, it’s the absence of personality,” Bingham said in the nearly six-minute clip on TikTok, which racked up two million views as of Thursday.
McCaffrey, 28, fired back at Bingham on his Instagram pagewhere the video was also shared, and commented: “What a bad thing to post online. I hope you can find joy and peace in the world, like my beautiful wife does.”
Culpo also responded to the criticism, as documented in a screenshot Captured by Bingham, she said: “Wow, what an absolutely evil person you are. I hope no one ever tears you apart like that because it's extremely hurtful. I love that dress and it was everything I wanted and more.”
In Bingham's video, the stylist also dissected comments made by Culpo. in a recent interview with Voguewhere she explained that she didn't want her dress to “exude sex in any way,” and that she wanted the look to be “as serious” as the wedding “ring.”
“If I were to just look at the dress, I would see a beautiful bride in a beautiful, simple, elegant dress. If we were to stop at the appearance of the dress, we would really have nothing to say, but it's everything surrounding the dress that leaves a bitter aftertaste,” Bingham said.
“…Now, look, there's nothing wrong with wanting a modest wedding dress, or just modest attire in general, but the way she talked about it went beyond just wanting something modest for herself and promoting this idea of what she thinks all brides should look like.”
Bingham also found it “weird” how Culpo referred to “coverage,” as the former Miss Universe winner told Vogue: “When I think about Christian and what he likes and the times he thinks I'm the most beautiful, it's definitely something like that: timeless, covered and elegant.”
