Celebrity stylist Anaita Shroff Adjania dressed Isha for the occasion and revealed that it was the first-ever custom sari designed by the House. However, internet fashion sleuths were quick to point out that the sari might be the first from Daniel Roseberry’s atelier, but not from the avant-garde Italian fashion atelier. Did Isha Ambani wear the first ever Schiaparelli sari?

Isha Ambani chose a bright blue Schiaparelli sari for last night’s star-studded sangeet. Many reports have called the ensemble the first-ever sari designed by the house. However, Instagram page @couturesoireebyadeel, run by Adeel R, pointed out that the ensemble is the first-ever sari designed by Schiaparelli’s creative director Daniel Roseberry. They added that the first-ever Schiaparelli sari was created by Elsa Schiaparelli herself in 1935 for a collection inspired by Maharani Sita Devi of Kapurthala. She was also known as Princess Karam.

According to Diet Sabya, Princess Karam, who was the driving force behind Schiaparelli's creation, said: “I was delighted to see that some of the designers have taken inspiration for their new designs this year from some of the saris I wore in the summer of 1934.”

In recent years, Isha Ambani has cemented her love for haute couture and archival fashion with her sartorial elegance. While last night's Schiaparelli sari wasn't the first ever designed by the avant-garde Italian house, it was definitely a work of art worth admiring.
