Nearly four years ago, at the 2020 Republican National Convention, Melania Trump appeared on the final night wearing what the internet called a “green screen dress.”
It was actually a neon green Valentino Spring 2020 pleated crepe dress with a sleeveless A-line silhouette and cape shoulders, completing the look with a thin dark pink belt, according to Vanity FairHeadlines and memes varied on the color, describing the dress as lime green, bright green, very green… One common thread seemed to unite all the jokes, reports, and TikToks about Melania Trump's dress at the 2020 RNC: It was definitely easy to spot among the Trump family and the crowd (see photos below).
Will Melania Trump Attend the 2024 Republican National Convention?
Melania Trump has rarely been seen in public during her husband, former President Donald Trump,'s 2024 campaign. The low-key wife is expected to be in the family box for her husband's remarks, officials said, but they would not otherwise comment on her activities.
It's a far cry from the Republican National Convention the week of Aug. 24, 2020, when then-first lady Melania Trump, dressed in a military-style suit, spoke from the newly renovated White House Rose Garden, seeking to offer comfort to families suffering during the coronavirus pandemic.

On August 27, 2020, the final day of the 2020 Republican National Convention, former first lady Melania Trump wore a lime green Valentino gown on the night of her husband's acceptance speech for the Republican nomination.
Also in attendance at the 2020 RNC were Barron Trump, his only son with former President Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump and Tiffany Trump, and their extended families.
The “green screen dress,” however, wasn't the only occasion on which Melania Trump's fashion choices made headlines.

Leaving the White House in Washington, D.C., on January 20, 2021, the day of President Joe Biden's inauguration, first lady Melania Trump wore a sleek black suit. When she stepped off Air Force One at Palm Beach International Airport three hours later, the third Mrs. Trump wore a much more colorful, Florida-style caftan.
“Serving as your first lady has been my greatest honor,” Trump said minutes before boarding Air Force One with the former president. “Thank you for your love and support. You will be in my thoughts and prayers, God bless you all. God bless your families and God bless this great nation.”
With her hair in a loose bun, Melania Trump wore a short Chanel jacket over a black Dolce & Gabbana dress, along with her Christian Louboutin stilettos and a crocodile Hermès Birkin.
The Trumps opted to skip President Joe Biden's Inauguration Day festivities and instead return to their private Mar-a-Lago beach club.
Melania Trump's outfit, a long-sleeved orange, white and navy patterned Gucci dress, reportedly cost $3,700, according to thedesigner website.

On June 21, 2018, former first lady Melania Trump arrived at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland wearing a Zara jacket that read, “I really don’t care. Do you?” after visiting the Upbring New Hope Children’s Center, run by Southern Lutheran Social Services in McAllen, Texas. She later explained that it was “for the people and for the left-wing media that are criticizing me.”
