Genesee Valley Center, Fashion Square Mall closed during a coronavirus outbreak

FLINT TOWNSHIP, MI – Two shopping centers in central Michigan have temporarily closed their doors in accordance with Michigan’s recent mandate to end all non-essential activities in the context of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The Genesee Valley Center in the Township of Flint and the Fashion Square Mall in the Township of Saginaw closed on Monday, March 23, following Governor Gretchen Whitmers’ home order.

Birch Run Premium Outlets closed last week amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Mason Asset Management and Namdar Realty Group made the following statement regarding the temporary closure of Genesee Valley:

We closely monitor developments related to COVID-19 and follow the advice of the authorities, ensuring above all that our customers, traders and employees are safe and healthy. The situation has indeed changed and, in accordance with the mandate of the State and our community, we have temporarily closed all of Michigan’s shopping centers until further notice. We sincerely appreciate the diligent work of our teams in maintaining a safe and clean environment over the past few weeks, and we hope to reopen as soon as possible.

Genesee Valley Center sold to a New York-based real estate group

The mall was purchased by Namdar Realty Group, a company headquartered in New York, on December 20. He previously belonged to Spinoso Group.
