British Fashion Council Launches Covid Crisis Fund

The British Fashion Council launched the Covid Crisis Fund today, an initiative to support fashion designers whose businesses have been affected by the global coronavirus pandemic.

The BFC provides £ 1 million in emergency funds through its BFC Foundation, which brings all BFC’s charitable initiatives under one roof. The majority of donations will go directly to support creative companies, while a portion will also be allocated to fashion students, in order to secure their professional future.

The money has been made available through the pooling of a number of grants from the BFC, which generally go to an early stage by showing support or growing and promoting businesses.

While the initial donation is a good start, BFC insisted that the scale of what is needed is well over £ 1 million, which is why they will appeal to the government for more support, as well as asking individuals to donate to the cause.

“More than ever, we are committed to supporting the businesses and people who make up our industry,” said Caroline Rush, Executive Director of BFC. “With the BFC Foundation Covid Crisis Fund and the donations raised, we hope to support British businesses that need additional grants, beyond the government stimulus available, to meet their most pressing challenges.”
