Alexander McQueen partners with Vestiaire Collective – WWD

LONDON – Alexander McQueen became the first luxury brand to work with Vestiaire Collective on the platform’s new Brand Approved program, in favor of circular – and sustainable – fashion.

As part of the new link, some customers will be contacted by a McQueen sales representative and ask if they have any parts of the brand they want to sell. Pieces assessed and deemed eligible will be redeemed and resold on a section dedicated to approved brands on the Vestiaire site. Sellers will receive credit memos that can be used to make new purchases at McQueen stores.

Until now, most luxury brands have preferred to stay away from the second-hand market and focus on selling new items and collections. This partnership is among the first of its kind, and allows brands to directly control used or vintage items, and allows them to work directly with the dealer.

McQueen, who is leading the project at Vestiaire, will offer his staff’s expertise in evaluating some of the used parts that customers want to consign. In doing so, it helps Vestiaire to edit and better authenticate its offer.

In addition to offering a section dedicated to brands approved for these types of sales, Vestiaire places external labels with additional information on each piece approved by the McQueen team and a confirmation of authenticity.
