Bangladesh singer Sa Re Ga Ma Pa humiliates Prime Minister Modi on social media and press charges against police
Tripura police have filed a lawsuit against Bangladeshi singer Mainul Ahsan Nobel, who gained fame on the musical reality show “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” in Calcutta, for allegedly humiliating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the networks social. The complaint was filed by a resident of the city of Belonia, in the district of South Tripura, a student at Pandit Deen Dayal Petroleum University in Gandhinagar in Gujarat. The complaint was filed on May 25, said person named Suman Paul.
“Nobel is not yet a popular singer in Bangladesh and has always been rejected by the public in that country. Belonia Police Director Jal Singh Meena confirmed that the complaint had been recorded and forwarded to the Tripura police cybercrime cell. The complaint was registered on the same day as it was lodged at the Belonia police station under articles 500 of the Indian Penal Code (punishment for defamation), 504 (intentional insult), 505 (public mischief) and computer law.
“We have registered the complaint and forwarded it to the cybercrime cell as it is not in Indian cyberspace. We have opened an investigation into this problem, ”said Meena.
Rajib Dutta, the officer in charge of the Belonia police station, said, according to the complaint, that the singer had abused Modi in a Facebook message, calling him “a simple chaiwala (tea seller)”.
