Jokowi inaugurates the “giant” Rp 1.4 T dam at NTB

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the Bintang Bano Dam in West Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) today on Friday (14/1/2022).

Just like at the previous inauguration of the dam, Jokowi, who was accompanied by First Lady Iriana Jokowi and her entourage, toured the dam in a getek boat.

“Alhamdulillah, today the Bintang Bano dam which has been built since 2015 is completed,” Jokowi said on the sidelines of the inauguration in a video uploaded to the Presidential Secretariat’s Youtube.

Jokowi said the “giant” dam was built with a budget of up to 1.44 trillion rupees. It is one of the two NTB dams that were inaugurated by the government.

Jokowi hopes that the presence of this dam can sustain water availability in West Sumbawa and support overall food security in NTB province.

“And it can meet the raw water needs especially in the dry areas of NTB province,” Jokowi said.

Jokowi said this dam has a large enough capacity. This dam, he continued, has a capacity of up to 76 million cubic meters.

“With an area of ​​256 hectares of flood and capable of irrigating 6,700 hectares of rice fields,” Jokowi said.
