President Jokowi suggested setting up independent investigation and prosecution team for Paniai case
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – National Human Rights Commission ( National Human Rights Commission) advise President Joko Widodo trained an independent team of investigators and prosecutors in cases of alleged human rights violations Paniai, Papua.

According to Anam, the formation of an independent team of investigators and prosecutors is enshrined in Law No. 26 of 2000 concerning the Court of Human Rights.
Article 21 (3) of the Law on the Court of Human Rights reads as follows: “In carrying out the tasks referred to in subsection (1), the Attorney General may appoint ad hoc investigators made up of members of the government and / or the public.“
Meanwhile, the Attorney General can also appoint a prosecutor ad hoc in the prosecution of gross human rights violations.
This is indicated in article 23, paragraph 2, of the Law on the Court of Human Rights.
If this is done, said Anam, the investigator-in-charge must have sufficient human rights knowledge.
