Prabowo will continue to lead Gerindra
Jakarta. Prabowo Subianto is expected to stay at the helm of the Grand Indonesian Party, or Gerindra, for another five years after “whole representatives” from party regional chapters asked him to do so at a national leadership meeting this week, said a party leader on Friday.

“Mr. Prabowo accepted the call, which he said was a party mandate,” said Dasco.
A national congress will be held later this year to formalize the extension of Prabowo’s term, he said.
Gerindra secretary general Ahmad Muzani said the party’s 34 regional chapters had also asked Prabowo to join the presidential race in 2024, but the former army general did not respond to the request.
“We all hope that Mr. Prabowo will accept being nominated again as our candidate,” said Ahmad.
Prabowo, 68, lost the last two presidential elections to Jokowi. But Gerindra managed to increase votes in last year’s legislative elections, winning 12.6% of the total, or 17.6 million votes, to place second after the Indonesian Democratic Struggle Party (PDI-P) , who won the total with 19.3%.
