President Jokowi performs Friday prayer at Baitturrahim Mosque
Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) performed Friday prayers at the Baiturrahim Mosque, the presidential palace complex, here after the start of the transition period for the gradual relaxation of social distancing measures in large scale (PSBB) in Jakarta.
Mass prayer was the first to be held at the mosque since the COVID-19 pandemic and since the establishment of the PSBB in the capital.
Wearing a mask, the president had to undergo a body temperature test before entering the mosque in accordance with health protocols to counter the spread of COVID-19.
In his sermon, Sudarjat, the Imam of Friday prayer, reminded the faithful to continue to increase their faith and piety after completing the month-long fast during Ramadan. He also prayed that the COVID-19 pandemic would end soon.
“Meanwhile, the Indonesian people and all nations of the world are facing a very severe test in the form of the pandemic COVID-19 of Allah SWT. Hopefully in the not too distant future, the pandemic will soon be over” said the preacher. .
According to information from the Press, Media and Information Office of the Presidential Secretariat, this Friday prayer was performed in accordance with rigorous health protocols, including the scanning of body temperature and the application of distance physical between the faithful.
In addition, the faithful must wear their own respective prayer equipment, wear masks and wash in accordance with Islamic teachings before visiting the mosque.
The capacity of the mosque has also been temporarily reduced to only 150 worshipers, compared to its normal capacity of 750 worshipers.
Handwashing facilities are provided at several locations around the mosque, while soaps, hand sanitizers, and antiseptic fabrics are available for worshipers.
