Pervaiz Elahi says ‘baby leader’ panicked over Imran Khan’s popularity – Pakistan

LAHORE (Dunya News) Pakistan Muslim League (Q) leader Pervaiz Elahi on Saturday attacked the Punjab government and said the ‘little ruler’ had panicked over the popularity of Pakistan’s President Tehreek-e- Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, in the province.

In a statement, the Punjab Assembly Speaker said holding a rally is the fundamental right of the PTI.

He further said that Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz should be thanked for publicizing the rally on Usman Dar’s behalf.

“The difficult task of publicizing the gathering was done by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Hamza Shahbaz,” he said.

Meanwhile, the PTI announced that it would change the location of the public gathering to VIP ground after the police crackdown on party workers and the arrest of Usman Dar.

PTI Punjab Chairman Shafqat Mahmood in a press conference with other party leaders said their peaceful activists were tortured by the police and claimed that a police action had been initiated on the orders of Khawaja Asif.

The former minister strongly condemned the arrests of PTI leaders and workers and demanded their immediate release and reiterated that the rally will be held in the city no matter what.

The PTI leader said he wanted to exercise his rights in a democratic way and called on the government to come to their senses. He added that the government is determined to use force and warned that the government would be responsible if anything untoward happened.

Earlier, police arrested PTI leader Usman Dar and after a fight broke out between PTI workers and police at the venue of PTI leader Imran Khan’s public meeting.

Police entered the venue of the PTI public meeting, claiming that the district administration had not allowed the party to hold a public meeting at the CTI Ground in Sialkot.

Faced with resistance from the PTI workers, the police used tear gas and batons to try to disperse the PTI workers.
