The Fulton County District Attorney sent “targeted letters” to the 16 so-called alternate voters who allegedly voted for former President Donald Trump. This as the DA weighs whether to call the former president himself to testify before the special grand jury.

ATLANTA — A spokeswoman for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis told the FOX 5 I-Team that she is considering asking former President Donald Trump to testify under oath before the panel. The special grand jury is investigating whether former President Trump and others interfered with the 2020 election.

The prosecutor’s office also said that several people, already subpoenaed in connection with the investigation, received letters informing them that they were at risk of being charged. Dale Russell, senior reporter for FOX 5’s I-Team, confirmed that Willis sent so-called target letters to 16 alternate voters, who voted in the Electoral College for Trump in December 2020, even though he had no won at Georgia State.

The developments underscore the expedited nature of the investigation and key decisions that may await prosecutors, who for more than a year have been examining efforts by Trump and his allies to reverse his election defeat in Georgia.

The special grand jury was seated in May at Willis’ request and investigated whether Trump and others unlawfully tried to meddle in Georgia’s 2020 election as the Republican desperately tried to cling to power after his loss to Democrat Joe Biden. Trump continues to insist the election was stolen, despite numerous federal and local officials, a long list of courts, former campaign staffers and even his own attorney general all saying that there was no evidence of the fraud he alleges.

Willis confirmed that the scope of the investigation included a Jan. 2, 2021, phone call between Trump and Georgian Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. During that call, Trump urged Raffensperger to “find” enough votes to undo his loss in the state.

“All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have,” Trump said on that call. “Because we won the state.
