PM in Gujarat: Modi announces ‘Vande Bharat Express’ at Gandhinagar station

Prime Minister in Gujarat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Gujarat, announced the new upgraded Vande Bharat Express from Gandhinagar today (September 30).

Heralding a new era of comfortable and improved train travel experience, the new Vande Bharat Express, the most anticipated newly built semi-rapid train, is now ready for commercial circulation.

The train will run between Gandhinagar and Mumbai, connecting the state capitals of Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Speaking about the features of this train, CPRO of Western Railway Zone, Sumit Thakur, said, “The Vande Bharat Express offers a myriad of superior amenities that will provide passengers with a travel experience similar to that of a aircraft and state-of-the-art safety features including Kavach technology – a locally developed train collision avoidance system.”

Thakur said the train was fitted with bogies equipped with fully suspended traction motors for an operational speed of 160 km/h, along with an advanced suspension system ensuring smooth and safe travel and comfort. improved driving experience for passengers. Thakur further stated that there are reclining seats in all classes, while executive coaches have the added feature of 180 degree rotating seats.

“Each coach is fitted with 32-inch screens providing passenger information and infotainment. Divyang-friendly toilets and a seat handle with seat numbers in Braille letters have also been provided,” it said. he declares. The Vande Bharat Express also incorporates many advanced security measures.

Talking about these features, Vande Bharat Express Locomotive Driver KK Thakur said, “This train has been fitted with four side cameras on the platform outside the coach, including rear view cameras In addition, the train has been designed to increase the green of Indian Railways by eliminating the power cars and saving about 30% electricity with the advanced regenerative braking system.In any emergency situation, the train driver locomotive and the train guard can easily communicate with each other as well as with the passengers.”

Vande Bharat Features:

The new Vande Bharat trains are said to have enhanced features including reclining seats, automatic fire sensors, CCTV cameras, on-demand content with Wi-Fi facility, three-hour battery backup and GPS systems to make travel safer and more comfortable.

ICF has set a target to manufacture 75 Vande Bharat trains by August 2023. It also has a Photocatalytic Ultraviolet Air Purification System in the Roof Mounted Packing Unit (RMPU) for air purification.

As recommended by the Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CSIO), Chandigarh, this system is designed and installed at both ends of the RMPU to filter and clean the air free of germs, bacteria, viruses, etc. from fresh air and return air. the new trains would be more comfortable compared to the two trains currently in service.

The reason for this is that the carriages of the new trains will be lighter than those of the older trains. The weight of the train has been reduced from 38 tons to 392 tons and it can continue to operate even with two feet of flood water on the tracks. These are stainless steel. Due to the reduced weight, passengers would feel more comfortable even at high speeds.

There are automatic doors operated by the pilot. The windows are wide, there is more space for luggage. Installed toilets will be advanced. Most parts of the trains are “Made in India” except for a few small parts.

This is the third Vande Bharat train in the country, with the other two running between New Delhi – Varanasi and New Delhi – Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.Vande Bharat Express is a new generation train that is redefining passengers traveling in India.

Meanwhile, around 11:30 a.m., the Prime Minister will also point out the Ahmedabad metro railway project and take a metro ride from Kalupur station to Doordarshan Kendra metro station.
