2:55 p.m .: Apple temporarily closes all stores outside Greater China

Apple will temporarily close its stores outside Greater China until March 27, but its online stores will still be open.

In a tweet, CEOTim Cook said "we must do everything we can to prevent the spread of COVID-19". He added that the iPhone maker will also commit $ 15 million to help with the recovery.

2:40 p.m .: Taiwan wants European travelers to be quarantined

Taiwan raised its travel alert for Schengen countries in Europe, as well as Great Britain and Ireland, advising its citizens not to go there unless necessary , Reuters reported.

The government has announced that travelers from these countries will be quarantined for 14 days upon arrival from March 17, the report said. The so-called Schengen area in Europe has no passport control between internal borders.

12.56 p.m .: House passes relief bill and sends it to Senate

The House adopted a coronavirus rescue plan early Saturday after hours of discussions between Democrats and the Trump administration on how to mitigate the economic damage from the global pandemic.

The chamber approved the 110-page bill to relieve consumers and workers hit by the epidemic less than an hour after the text was published. The measure was voted by an overwhelming majority of 363-40-1.

12:15 p.m .: White House doctor says Trump shared a table with a guest who tested positive

Donald Trump was at the same table as a guest who was subsequently tested positive for COVID-19, the president's doctor said Friday. The Pentagon has suspended all domestic travel for military personnel, Department of Defense civilians and their families. The new measures take effect from March 16 to May 11, according to a Pentagon Public Affairs statement.

"Similar to other COVID-19 travel advice, travel exceptions may be granted for compelling cases where travel is mission critical, for humanitarian reasons, or warranted due to extreme hardship", indicates the press release. 11.10 a.m .: Saudi Arabia suspends international flights for two weeks

Saudi Arabia will suspend international flights for two weeks starting Sunday at 11 a.m. local time, the national news agency reported. According to the Saudi news agency, an official Interior Ministry source said further measures will be taken to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, which has been declared a global pandemic by the World Organization of health.

10:08 am: New Zealand cancels memorial service for Christchurch Mosque shooting

New Zealand canceled the national memorial service to commemorate the first anniversary of the shooting in Christchurch, where 51 people were killed when a gunman stormed two mosques. The event, which was originally scheduled to take place in Christchurch on Sunday, was canceled for fear that the new coronavirus would spread to overcrowded places.

"This is a pragmatic decision," said Premier Jacinda Ardern. "We are very sad to cancel, but by remembering such a terrible tragedy, we should not create the risk of harming more."
