2:55 p.m .: Apple temporarily closes all stores outside Greater China
Apple will temporarily close its stores outside Greater China until March 27, but its online stores will still be open.
In a tweet, CEOTim Cook said "we must do everything we can to prevent the spread of COVID-19". He added that the iPhone maker will also commit $ 15 million to help with the recovery.

2:40 p.m .: Taiwan wants European travelers to be quarantined
Taiwan raised its travel alert for Schengen countries in Europe, as well as Great Britain and Ireland, advising its citizens not to go there unless necessary , Reuters reported.
The government has announced that travelers from these countries will be quarantined for 14 days upon arrival from March 17, the report said. The so-called Schengen area in Europe has no passport control between internal borders.
People arriving from and transiting from Dubai will also be quarantined, Reuters said.Joanna Tan
12.56 p.m .: House passes relief bill and sends it to Senate
The House adopted a coronavirus rescue plan early Saturday after hours of discussions between Democrats and the Trump administration on how to mitigate the economic damage from the global pandemic.
The chamber approved the 110-page bill to relieve consumers and workers hit by the epidemic less than an hour after the text was published. The measure was voted by an overwhelming majority of 363-40-1.

12:15 p.m .: White House doctor says Trump shared a table with a guest who tested positive
Donald Trump was at the same table as a guest who was subsequently tested positive for COVID-19, the president's doctor said Friday. The incident happened last weekend while Trump was welcoming a Brazilian delegation to Mar-a-Lago, where he was briefly in touch with Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro's press secretary, who also tested positive after the event.
In the second case, Trump shared the dinner table with the guest who "had no symptoms until this morning," said Dr. Sean Conley in a statement that did not mention the name of the guest.
"There is no indication of home quarantine at this time" as the interactions would be considered to be at low risk of transmission, in accordance with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, he added. Joanna Tan
11.49 a.m .: Pentagon suspends domestic travel for those affiliated with the Ministry of Defense
The Pentagon has suspended all domestic travel for military personnel, Department of Defense civilians and their families. The new measures take effect from March 16 to May 11, according to a Pentagon Public Affairs statement.
"Similar to other COVID-19 travel advice, travel exceptions may be granted for compelling cases where travel is mission critical, for humanitarian reasons, or warranted due to extreme hardship", indicates the press release. "Our goal is to stay ahead of the spread of the virus so that our military remains efficient and ready."

11.10 a.m .: Saudi Arabia suspends international flights for two weeks
Saudi Arabia will suspend international flights for two weeks starting Sunday at 11 a.m. local time, the national news agency reported. According to the Saudi news agency, an official Interior Ministry source said further measures will be taken to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, which has been declared a global pandemic by the World Organization of health.
The kingdom has at least 86 confirmed cases, according to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University. Last month, Saudi Arabia temporarily banned the entry of pilgrims and foreign tourists, in order to stem the spread of COVID-19.Joanna Tan

China said there were 11 new confirmed cases and 13 additional deaths as of March 13. All of the deaths in the latest report came from Hubei Province, the epicenter of the epidemic where most of the cases were found. 10:08 am: New Zealand cancels memorial service for Christchurch Mosque shooting
New Zealand canceled the national memorial service to commemorate the first anniversary of the shooting in Christchurch, where 51 people were killed when a gunman stormed two mosques. The event, which was originally scheduled to take place in Christchurch on Sunday, was canceled for fear that the new coronavirus would spread to overcrowded places.
"This is a pragmatic decision," said Premier Jacinda Ardern. "We are very sad to cancel, but by remembering such a terrible tragedy, we should not create the risk of harming more."

9:33 a.m .: South Korea adds 107 new cases
South Korea has reported 107 new cases as of March 14, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 8,086. There have been 5 additional deaths, bringing the death toll to 72, according to data from the centers Korean disease control and prevention.Joanna Tan

President Donald Trump expressed support for a home coronavirus rescue plan on Friday after a day of talks between Democrats and his administration on how to lessen the economic damage from the global pandemic.

7:00 p.m .: Agreement to pass relief bill on coronavirus strikes at the last minute
Negotiators in Washington on Friday evening sent mixed signals over whether they had reached agreement on a plan.
Earlier, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi wrote to colleagues that "we are proud to have reached agreement" on a proposal to alleviate the economic damage of the global pandemic after hours of going – comes with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.
