Boris Johnson is Nadine Dorries’ first chat guest
Nadine Dorries, a polarizing former culture secretary for Britain, is set to host a new Friday night talk show on the conservative TalkTV channel.
Making her debut on February 3, Dorries, who is still a Member of Parliament (MP), will kick off her show with an exclusive one-on-one interview with former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who resigned last July after a series of scandals .
Dorries was a staunch Johnson supporter and stood by him when most of the Prime Minister’s former ministers condemned his actions around ‘partygate’ – a series of parties held in Downing Street during UK lockdowns.
The hour-long weekly show will be called “Friday Night with Nadine” and will be billed as “an irreverent look at the week’s news and a lively mix of topical discussions with guests from the world of politics, of culture and sport”.
Dorries’ time as culture secretary has been fraught with difficulty. In 2021, at a government select committee hearing, Dorries – who had backed the bid to privatize ‘It’s a Sin’ broadcaster Channel 4 – seemed unsure how the UK broadcaster was funded, saying he was “received public money,” when in fact Channel 4 is state-owned but funded by advertising.
The politician is also known in the UK for a controversial 12-day stint on ITV’s reality TV juggernaut ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ in 2012.
