Donald Trump files case to move New York secret money case to federal court

There are new developments in the legal battle involving former President Donald Trump and the alleged silent money scheme involving adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Trump’s attorneys have asked a federal court to resume his New York criminal case that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg brought against him.

In a nine-page petition, they argued the case should be moved since some of the alleged actions took place during his tenure.

Trump’s attorneys say the case “involves significant federal issues,” which include allegations involving violations of federal and state election laws.

The request comes a month after Trump pleaded not guilty to a 34-count indictment.

He is accused of falsifying business records in connection with money paid to Daniels to keep her quiet about an alleged affair.

Although the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is still prosecuting Trump and state law continues to apply, a federal judge would oversee the case if it is moved.

The request will now be assessed by a federal judge while the case proceeds in state court and all time limits for pretrials remain in effect.

This case is just one of six in which Trump is charged. There are four criminal cases and two civil cases against him.

The criminal cases he faces, in addition to this indictment, include classified documents found at Mar-a-Lago and two cases of interference in the 2020 elections.

The two civil cases include the battery and libel trial of E. Jean Carroll and the Trump Organization tax evasion case.
