With the new administration in place led by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, XI Jinping, the Chinese President has pledged greater economic cooperation with Nigeria as the country is important to Africa and the world.

According to a press release issued in Abuja by Tunde Rahman, presidential spokesman, the Chinese president spoke through his special envoy, Peng Qinghua, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, People’s Republic of China, who met President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja on Wednesday.

Qinghua said the two countries currently have good bilateral relations and economic cooperation, noting that Chinese companies are doing well in Nigeria in railways, roads, hydropower and free trade zones.

While hailing President Tinubus’ plan to lead Nigeria into a new era of economic development and prosperity, the Chinese envoy however said there were areas where Nigeria could benefit from China.

He called on the two countries to share ideas and align strategies, urging President Tinubu to also create a more investment-friendly environment.

In response, President Tinubu said Nigeria was open for business and constructive partnerships, and would do business with any country willing to do business with the country.

He promised his administration would work to promote the ease of doing business.

He said: We need accelerated growth and we are ready to do business honestly with those who are willing to do business with us.

We will continue to work to promote democracy in the West African sub-region. I am a product of democracy and will work day and night to advance democracy.
