Boris Johnson has received the findings of the Commons Partygate inquiry which will decide his future

Boris Johnson was sent the conclusions of the House of Commons party portal investigation that will determine his future as an MP.

The committee will then report back to the House in the usual way, and it will be for the House – not the committee – to decide this matter.

A sanction of 10 days or more could destroy Mr Johnson’s political future, threatening to trigger a by-election in his constituency of Uxbridge and South Ruislip.

The cross-party committee inquiry – which began 14 months ago – has been delayed by the emergence of new evidence showing potential breaches of the lockdown by Mr Johnson.

One of the potential violations reported this week involved the couple welcome a close friend to Checkers while some coronavirus restrictions were still in place.

The former Prime Minister and his then-pregnant wife reportedly invited corporate event organizer Dixie Maloney to the Buckinghamshire country mansion on May 7, 2021, the Guardian reported. The couple and Ms Maloney denied that any laws had been broken.

Mr Johnson swore on the Bible to tell the truth before apologizing and added: I am here to tell you, hand on heart, I did not lie to the House.

Mr Johnson has defended various rule-breaking events, including his birthday party for which he was fined, as necessary for business purposes.
