Bushra Bibi moves IHC for medical examination to Shaukat Khanum

Bushra Bibi, wife of incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, on Monday moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to undergo medical examination at Shaukat Khanum Hospital.

According to details, the complaint was filed with the IHC by Shoaib Shaheen on behalf of Bushra Bibi, seeking her medical examination at Shaukat Khanum Hospital.

The plea said that the former prime minister's wife was poisoned in Banigala sub-jail and her medical examination was to be carried out at Shaukat Khanum Hospital.

On April 6, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) asked authorities to conduct a medical examination of Bushra Bibi, wife of incarcerated party founder Imran Khan, at Shaukat Khanum Hospital.

Lawyer Gohar Ali Khan, PTI chief, said in a statement that he would only accept medical reports issued by a personal doctor, demanding to conduct an examination at Shaukat Khanum Hospital.

The request came two days after a medical report – released by the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) – found no evidence that any toxic substance was administered to Bushra Bibi at Bani sub-jail Gala.

The medical report was released after four senior doctors conducted a medical examination of Imran Khan's wife. The report stated that Bushra Bibi's appetite was not normal and she suffered from stomach pain.

PTI founder Imran Khan's personal physician Dr Asim Yousuf also conducted a medical examination of the former first lady and found no trace of any toxic substance.

It is worth mentioning here that incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan claimed that his wife was poisoned at Bani Gala sub-jail. The former prime minister made startling revelations during a hearing into the £190 million Adiala Prison settlement case in Rawalpindi.

During the hearing, Imran Khan informed the accountability court judge that the former first lady had marks on her skin and tongue after “being poisoned”. “The court should order a medical examination of Bushra Bibi,” he said.
