At Bihar rally, PM Modi brings up Godhra train arson to accuse opposition of appeasement

Reflecting on the arson attack on the Godhra train in 2002, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 4 accused RJD president Lalu Prasad of trying to save those responsible for the burning of more than 60 kar sevaks under the reign of Sonia madam.
Mr. Modi, who addressed an election rally in Darbhanga in north Bihar, recalled the incident when he was Gujarat chief minister, alleging that opposition parties were still practicing politics “appeasement”.

It is because of this policy of appeasement that the father of Bihar 'shehzada' [allusion to Tejashwi Yadav] had tried to save those who were responsible for the Godhra train fire, Mr. Modi said, adding that after all, it was Madam Sonia's rule, referring to the UPA chairman who was also President of the ruling Congress.
He [Lalu Prasad], who was himself convicted (in cases of fodder fraud), was then Minister of Railways. He created a commission of inquiry and obtained a report which exonerated the culprits of this horrible crime. But the court rejected the report, Mr. Modi said.
Mr. Modi accused the opposition parties of trying to deprive the SCs, STs and tribals of their reservations because of the disillusionment these deprived sections felt with the INDIA bloc.
The INDIA bloc is trying to divert reservations to Muslims. They go against the views of Babasaheb Ambedkar and first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, neither of whom favored reservations on religious grounds, Mr. Modi said.
He also criticized Tejashwi Yadav for bringing up the 'Hindu Muslim narrative' at rallies while speaking about the Agnipath project and said that when we talk about Captain Hameed's martyrdom, do we consider him a Muslim? Without naming Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, he said: “There is a shehzada in Delhi and one in Patna, both of which consider the country their stronghold [jaagir]“Their mindset was exposed when they raised questions about surgical strikes and spoke ill of the armed forces,” Mr. Modi said.
