President inaugurates PSN for 1.57 trillion rupees

KENDARIPOS.FAJAR.CO.ID – The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), through the Kendari IV Sulawesi River Basin Center (BWS) of the General Directorate of Water Resources (Ditjen SDA), has completed the construction of Ameroro Dam in Konawe Regency. The construction of irrigation infrastructure began in December 2020 and will be completed by the end of 2023, absorbing APBN costs of IDR 1.57 trillion.

On Tuesday (14/5), the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, inaugurated the National Strategic Project (PSN) located in Tamesandi Village, Uepai District. The Ameroro Dam is the second to be built in Southeast Sulawesi under President Joko Widodo's administration after the Ladongi Dam in East Kolaka (Koltim) Regency.

The Ameroro Dam is designed to be multi-purpose, with a total capacity of 88 million m3. The flood area is 398 hectares, and the main function is to irrigate 3,363 hectares of irrigation areas in Konawe. Apart from this, Ameroro Dam is also useful in reducing flood flow rate of 443.34 m3/second, producing raw water of 511 liters/second, besides being a micro hydroelectric power plant (PLTMH ) of 1.3 megawatt (MW).

During the inauguration of the Ameroro Dam, Joko Widodo highlighted the importance of the existence of the dam. Mainly to prevent the water crisis, which is currently of increasing concern in various regions of the world.

Because in the future, water will become something very important for our lives. “Therefore, do not let the water continue to flow into the sea and do not use it,” said the former governor of DKI Jakarta.
