Days after the Lok Sabha election results were announced, a meeting of the newly elected MPs of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA alliance was held in Parliament on Friday to decide the coalition leader.

The meeting took place at the Samvidhan Sadan of the Parliament building, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was welcomed with chants of 'Modi Modi'. Upon arrival, Prime Minister Modi paid homage to the Indian Constitution by touching the book to his forehead.

BJP MP Rajnath Singh proposed Narendra Modi as NDA parliamentary party leader, which was unanimously approved, paving the way for him to become prime minister for the third time.

I would like to congratulate all the newly elected MPs… Today we are here to elect the NDA leader. I think Prime Minister Narendra Modi's name is the most appropriate for all these posts, Singh said.
