ISLAMABAD: After refusing to appear before investigators twice in connection with the controversial tweet case, incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has finally joined the probe into the questionable video that surfaced on his official X account a few days ago, sources told Geo News.

Former Prime Minister Khan has officially joined the FIA ​​probe which was launched after a controversial video regarding the Dhaka fall incident was posted on his official X account.

The sources said that an investigation team comprising FIA Additional Director Ayaz Ahmed and Sub-Inspector Munib visited Adiala Jail again to question the PTI founder.

It has emerged that Khan joined the investigation in the presence of his lawyers Chaudhry Zaheer Abbas and Intezar Hussain Panjutha.

During the investigation, the FIA ​​team questioned Khan after he showed his questionable X post in jail.

Not only Khan, but the FIA ​​had also notified three other senior PTI leaders in connection with the case, including lawyer Gohar Khan, Omar Ayub and Raoof Hasan.

However, Omar had been excused from appearing before the FIA ​​due to a busy schedule, while Gohar and Raoof appeared before investigators on Wednesday.

Further, the Islamabad High Court (IHC), following a petition against the FIA ​​appeal notices, also directed the investigating agency not to take any adverse action against them, besides ordering PTI leaders to join the investigation.

Omar questions FIA competence

Expressing deep indignation at being summoned by the probe agency for the X post probe, PTI general secretary Omar slammed the FIA ​​for issuing summon notices to parliamentarians and other party leaders .

Speaking in the National Assembly today, the Opposition leader questioned the competence of a sub-inspector of an investigation agency which allowed him to issue a summons notice to parliamentarians.

Omar added that parliamentarians were part of the state in accordance with the Constitution and that Parliament was superior to all other institutions in the country.

He criticized that association with the party founded by Imran was apparently becoming a crime in the country while no laws were in place to stop such illegal activities.

He asked the House to summon the FIA ​​director general to question its constitutional limits as well as the language used in the summons notice.
