Ahead of the inauguration ceremony of Narendra Modi as Indian Prime Minister on Sunday, authorities have implemented massive security measures in and around Delhi, including imposing prohibitory orders and declaring the city no-fly zone.

President Droupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Modi and his ministers on Sunday at 7:15 p.m., at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan.

6. Restrictions and bans will be in effect from June 9 to 10, the notice said.

7. “As of 06.09.2024, it will be prohibited to fly sub-conventional aerial platforms such as paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, drones, UASS, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons , small motorized aircraft, quadcopters or parachute jumps from an airplane, etc. over the jurisdiction of the NCT of Delhi for a swearing-in ceremony in the National Capital Territory of Delhi to thwart criminal elements, anti-social or anti-India terrorists from posing a threat to the security of the general public, dignitaries and vital installations by using them,” the police said in a notice issued on X.

8. Violators of the rules would be penalized and prosecuted under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

9. The Rashtrapati Bhavan also announced the cancellation of the weekly changing of the guard ceremony on June 8.

10. The security measures were taken after the official appointment of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister-designate by the President on Friday.

Modi was elected parliamentary leader of the NDA after a meeting of the alliance's newly elected MPs held in the Central Hall of Parliament on Friday.

Later in the day, he met President Murmu and demanded the formation of the government. She named Modi as prime minister-designate after BJP president JP Nadda handed over a letter to her informing her that the former had been elected leader of the BJP parliamentary party.
