'I will watch India-Pakistan match instead of Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony': Shashi Tharoor | India News
“I was not invited to the swearing-in, so I will watch the match (India vs Pakistan),” Tharoor said.
The match is scheduled to take place on June 9 around 8 pm IST in the United States, while Modi's inauguration ceremony is scheduled for 7:15 pm on the same day.
As Prime Minister Modi prepares to take oath as Prime Minister for the third consecutive term, several leaders and heads of state from the neighboring region and the Indian Ocean region have been invited as guests brand.

He also noted that India has invited its neighboring countries, except Pakistan, which sends a signal.
“It's good that at least the Maldives are at least making the effort to come here and talk. They haven't been particularly friendly or receptive to our interests for a while now. This particular president is coming here to the first time. I suppose the visit will also be used for some side meetings,” he said.
“It's a good tradition that started during Prime Minister Modi's inauguration ceremony. But this time, there is one less. He did not invite Pakistan. So once again, this sends also a signal,” the Congress MP added.
