Jokowi is furious! Online gaming working group to be formed soon
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – RI President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is serious about eradicating online gambling. He also explained the efforts that will be made by the government.
As the government continues to attempt to shut down sites, it is even forming a task force to eradicate online gambling to combat this activity which has multiplied in Indonesian society.
“The government will also continue to eradicate and seriously combat online gambling and until more than 2.1 million online gambling sites have been shut down and the online gambling task force will be formed soon “, Jokowi said on Wednesday (12/6/2024).
Jokowi hopes that the existence of this task force can accelerate the eradication of online gambling. However, he recognized that this activity was transnational in nature and could not be carried out from a single country.
“Online gambling is transnational, cross-border, cross-border and cross-licensed, so one of the most important defenses is our own society,” Jokowi said.
According to Jokowi, people should avoid online gambling activities. He also called on community and religious leaders to continue to remember the dangers of online gambling.
“Therefore, I call on all religious leaders, community leaders and the broader community to remember, monitor themselves and also report if there are indications of online gambling,” Jokowi said.
