Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to leave for Italy on Thursday to attend the 50th G7 summit, scheduled for June 13-14.

Italy chairs the G7 this year and hosts the summit of the informal group of seven advanced economies of the world, which also includes Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as the European Union.

This will be India's 11th participation in the G7 Summit and Prime Minister Modi's fifth consecutive participation in the G7 Summit.

On June 14, Prime Minister Modi will also participate in the awareness session along with other countries invited to the awareness summit.

At this summit, the focus will be on artificial intelligence (AI), energy, Africa and the Mediterranean, which will be a central point of the agenda where the G7 and relevant countries will share their views and their perspectives, Kwatra noted.
