Erdogan receives World Bank President
Trkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received World Bank President Ajay Banga in the Turkish capital Ankara on Tuesday.
No further information was provided by officials about the closed-door meeting, which was held at the presidential complex.
It was Banga's first visit to Trkiye as head of the World Bank Group.
Banga was also received earlier in the day by Turkish Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Simsek during a meeting held at the ministry.
Trkiye's National Partnership Framework (CPF) with the bank for 2024-2028 was on the negotiating agenda, as was possible cooperation in areas such as resilient cities, energy transformation, infrastructure, support to small and medium-sized businesses and employment, Simsek said. on X.
Banga also reiterated his support for Ankara's economic agenda during his visit, according to Turkish officials.
The World Bank chief also met with Trkiye Minister of Energy and Natural Sources Alparslan Bayraktar during his visit.
The two discussed support for Trkiye's energy transition process.
“We discussed supporting renewable energy, energy efficiency, transportation and distribution infrastructure in the energy transition process, and how to strengthen this support,” Bayraktar said on X.
“We have assessed opportunities for collaboration with the World Bank regarding the measures we have taken to create a predictable, transparent and conducive investment environment in Trkiye,” he added.
